Momentum Building in the Battle for Our Tradition

Writer: Justin Justin

Dear United Houndsmen of Colorado Members,

The fight for our traditions continues, and we're excited to bring you an update on the latest developments.

Ballot Initiative 91 Progresses Through Supreme Court:

Ballot Initiative 91 has successfully progressed through the Supreme Court. The title is set, and soon will begin the crucial stage of signature gathering.

Ballot Initiative 101 Faces Challenges at Title Board:

Ballot Initiative 101 has faced significant challenges posed at the title board, but CRWM is not backing down. It will be heading to the Supreme Court soon, and we are committed to overcoming every obstacle in our way.

UHC Board Members on the Front Lines:

Our dedicated board members have been actively participating in title hearings and commission meetings. We are working closely with affiliated agencies to help counter the misleading information spread by anti-hunting groups. Your board is fully engaged, ensuring our voice is heard and our cause is championed. April Season: The removal of the April season by CPW is regrettable, but it's essential to grasp the rationale behind this decision. Over the past two consecutive years, only 2 lions per year were harvested in these units. CPW introduced the April season as a measure to manage lower take units effectively. However, the outcome of only 2 lions per year across all April units combined is an insufficient metric from a conservation standpoint.

CPW has invested resources and efforts in developing and maintaining these auxiliary seasons, yet they haven't yielded the anticipated results. In retrospect, involving houndsmen in the developmental stages of this management tool could have significantly improved its effectiveness. I firmly believe that collaboration during the development phase would have not only benefited CPW's management model but also allowed us to retain the season by making it more productive for all parties involved. With that in mind UHC is now actively involved with participating in the processes that come with developing these new management plans. We hope to make positive changes for both the betterment of the models as well as the species.

Record-High Sportsmen and Women Involvement:

The heartening news is that sportsmen and women involvement is at a record high and steadily climbing. This surge in support is our greatest strength. We must keep our foot on the gas because together we will prevail in this battle and protect our cherished traditions.

Strategic Messaging and Momentum:

We understand the importance of strategic communication. While our messaging will be picking up significantly, the recent decision to not reveal our hand has proven beneficial. This slow-moving machine now has the momentum, and we're determined to keep it going.

Your Crucial Role:

The best way you can support the fight is by actively participating in shows, engaging in conversations with relevant individuals, and, when the time comes, putting your skin in the game. Whether through volunteering or donating to the organizations tirelessly fighting this battle, every contribution matters.

Complex Battle, Competent Leadership:

Everyone should know CRWM, Coloradans for Responsible Wildlife Management. This battle is complex and multifaceted, fought on many fronts. Rest assured, we have some of the most competent individuals leading the charge. We are set for war, and with your active involvement, we will help topple our adversaries.

Protecting Tradition and Family Values:

This fight goes beyond the freedom to hunt mountain lions and bobcats. It's about protecting our tradition, our family values, and a way of life that defines us. Together, we stand strong, united against those who seek to undermine the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.

In the words of Theodore Roosevelt, "Far better it is to dare mighty things than to rank with those timid spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much." Let's continue daring mighty things together.

Stay resolute, stay united, and let's emerge victorious in this crucial battle for our way of life.

Sincerely,

Justin Angelovich President
